The purpose of these pages is to engage in some group study focussing specifically on the mid-week period of Tuesday to Thursday. We will post some scripture verses, and a few thoughts before throwing the conversation over to you. This is not a teaching session, use the prompts (and google) to explore scripture and share relevant verses. Log in to the conversation as often or as infrequently as you like and if you wish to join in put your thoughts in the comments box at the bottom of the page.
The right frame of mind
Before you start to dive into this week’s bible study, take a few moments to calm your spirit. Get comfortable with your beverage of choice, your Bible and something to write with. Pray that God would give you the time to study and put to one side the concerns of the day. Breathe deeply for a few seconds and focus on who Jesus said he was…. When you are ready move on…

Over the last few weeks, scripture has been repeatedly leading us back to our identity in Christ. Last week we looked at what it is to be branches grafted into the vine – Taken from John 15 The passage contains one of the seven ‘I am’ statements of Jesus. This week we are going to look at another. If being grafted into the vine feeds us and helps us to grow – what does this mean practically?
“I am the bread of life.” (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51)
Take a couple of minutes and read it through. First time quickly and then more slowly one verse at a time.
To eat the bread, and to be grafted are two pictures of the same thing – Life in the spirit.
John 6 says he who comes to me – what does that mean? Have a look at the stories in Luke 7 – What truly matters is whether we accept or reject Jesus.
Read John 6:27-29
First of all… ‘to believe in the one who sent me’ v47 – whoever believes has everlasting life…

Note: to come to the Lord and to be grafted is permanent. Putting your roots, your trust in other ideologies are not. Is 40:23-24 So what is it to be grafted onto the vine and to partake in the ‘Bread of Life’?
We are called to be faithful over time Is 42:1-4 and to not be afraid Isa 41:13 God is our refuge Psa 46 – To hope…
Consider what Jesus said about not living by bread alone.. Matt4:4
